The Cathedral Bible Study is in its third decade of continuous ministry. Since 1982, its founder Father Robert Stephanopoulos has been at its helm. However, as of October 2007, the Cathedral Bible Study is now under the direction of Father Frank Marangos its new dean. The Bible Study has met without interruption every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This ministry is open to all and has included many Greek Orthodox, other Christians of different church affiliations and even Jewish participants. It is open-ended and allows for the free exchange of viewpoints on the issues that arise out of the Christian Bible. Selection for study over the years have included the Old Testament (Psalms, Genesis, Ruth, Job) and particularly the New Testament (Matthew, Luke, Acts, John, Romans, the Pastoral Letters, Revelation, James, etc.) Many issues arising out of textual interpretations of the Bible are discussed by all in the light of the Orthodox exegetical tradition.
Everyone is encouraged to participate and exchange insights and opinions that increase the understanding of all of the Holy Scriptures. Throughout the years Father Robert has often been assisted by Father Angelo Gavalas, Father Vasilios Bassakyros, Father George Zugravu, Father Vasilios Penterides, and Henry Kalcanes.
All are welcome every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the CathedralCenter.
