The Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dr. Dino Anagnost, Dean of Music, has been widely acclaimed for the magnificence of its musical offerings, including the Divine Liturgy Sunday mornings with Father Frank Marangos. The Choir also participates in special religious holiday services with His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and has sung for Patriarchs, Archbishops, visiting Church and foreign dignitaries, Presidents and other elected officials.

Byzantine Chant, traditional Greek liturgical settings, along with hymns from the Russian Orthodox Church comprises the music presented by the Cathedral choir on Sunday mornings. Anastassiou, Sakellarides, Gallos, Desby, Zes, Pappas, Roubanis, Bogdanos, Anagnost, Kalomiris, as well as Tchaikovsky, Karlash, Chesnokov, Rachmaninov, Borniansky are some of the 20th century composers that are included in the selections for the Divine Liturgy.

Great Music Under A Byzantine Dome, annual Christmas and Easter Concerts offered since 1975 in the Cathedral, have been enjoyed by thousands of music lovers from throughout New York. They are presented by Dr. Dino Anagnost conducting the Metropolitan Singers/Greek Choral Society and Little Orchestra Society. Volunteers are encouraged to join the choir.
